Earl Pemberton, 71, of Brownstown, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, at the First Christian Church, Brownstown with Reverend Nathan Brands officiating. Burial followed at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation was held for two hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements.
Earl Len Pemberton was born on Wednesday, May 18, 1949 in Flora to Roy and Betty (Porter) Pemberton. He married Marcia K. Beck on July 23, 1990. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Brownstown. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections at the Vandalia Correctional Center. He enjoyed quail and coon hunting, fishing, triathalons and 5 K runs, harness racing and biking. In addition, Earl enjoyed refereeing basketball and baseball.
He is survived by his wife of over 30 years; step-daughter, Tiffany Whitten, Fairview Heights; sister, Diana Pemberton, Flora; 2 grandchildren, Brett (Terra) Pruett and Blake Pruett; 2 great-grandchildren, Isaac and Alyza Pruett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lowell Pemberton.
