On July 4, 2019, Robert Howard “Bob” Dufford of Leesburg, Fla. passed away at age 84 at his daughter’s residence in Temecula, Calif.
Bob, a 30-year U.S. Navy veteran, served around the world, including in Florida, Newfoundland, Puerto Rico, California (three tours), Guam, Wales (two tours), and Virginia, finally retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 at his last duty station in Coos Bay, Ore.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maureen Helen Dufford (nee Fiddis); sons Robert Todd Dufford and Troy Howard Dufford; daughter Teresa Marie Luis; son-in-law Steve Luis; daughters-in-law Rowena Arcega Dufford, Wendy Lynn Dufford, and Karin Christine Dufford; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Brett, Makena, and Madison Dufford, and Danielle Luis. Bob is also survived by his sister, Mary Jane Dufford Gibbons, a 1945 graduate of St. Elmo High School, and her family of Greenville, Ky.; and brother William Dufford, a 1962 graduate of St. Elmo High School, and his family of Cincinnati.
Bob was a 1953 graduate of St. Elmo High School, where he played football and baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard L. (Lefty) and Mary E. Dufford, 25-plus year residents of St. Elmo; and his sister, Betty Lou (Betsy) Dufford Brickner, a 1948 graduate of St. Elmo High School.
