As of Monday, April 6, the Fayette County Health Department has confirmed three cases of COVID-19. 47 other persons had been tested, and three more tests are pending results.
The Fayette County Health Department’s totals are gleaned from state-approved testing and known private laboratory results. Not all commercial laboratories share their results with the county.
Additionally, confirmed cases of COVID-19 are now tracked by ZIP code on the Illinois Department of Public Health’s website. However, in ZIP codes with fewer than five cases, data is not shown on-site.
Also on Monday, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced that Illinois was the seventh state to pass 300 deaths from COVID-19. Many of those deaths (70 percent, according to IDPH director Dr. Ngozi Ezike) were in persons with comorbid conditions.
Illinois has 12,262 confirmed cases at last check, spread across 73 of 101 counties.
