On April 16, 2019, Mildred “Millie” Ruth Conrad completed the task the Lord Jesus gave her: the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. She is now at rest with her Savior, Jesus.
Millie was born on June 27, 1931 to Albert and Martha (Brauer) Proefrock in rural Effingham County. She was brought into Christ by God’s work of faith when she was baptized on July 5, 1931. She remained in Christ by God’s grace as she trusted in His word daily. She was his bold witness and a true prayer warrior.
Millie married George Conrad Sr. on Dec. 2, 1951. They were blessed with four children. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage the year he went to his heavenly home on Oct. 6, 2011.
Millie was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. She gave and received joy by sending cards and letters of faith, love, and encouragement to family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Dr. George (Nancy) Conrad Jr. of Valley, Ne., John (Lea) Conrad of Dundee, Joel (Dawn) Conrad of Haymarket, Va. and Joy (Bill) Meyer of Davenport, Iowa; grandchildren: John, Christen, Stephen, Sam, Luke, Malia, Joelle and Joshua; great grandchildren: Milo, Artie, Landon and Isaiah; and her sister, Evelyn Herrick of Akron, Ohio.
