Lola Maye (Scoles) Hawkey, age 82, formerly of St. Elmo, passed away on Feb. 14, 2019 at her home in Martin, Tenn.

Lola was born on Oct. 18, 1936 in St. Elmo, the daughter of Benjamin and Nellie (Tipsword) Scoles. She married Kenneth L. Hawkey on Feb. 12, 1955; he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2007. She loved gardening, watching NASCAR, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and playing computer games. Lola worked at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in St. Elmo, for many years.
She is survived by her children, Randy Hawkey (Bonnie) of Olney, Carol Crockett (Bill) of Glendale Heights, Brenda Wilson (Herbert) of Cape Coral, Fla., Kevin Hawkey of San Angelo, Texas, and Kathy Smith (Scott) of Martin, Tenn.; brothers, Ray Scoles (Dianne) of Edgewood, John Scoles (Joann) of Dora, Mo., and Frank Scoles (Bernice) of St. Elmo; sisters, Mary Eagan of Sandoval, Barbara Goldsberry of St. Elmo, and her twin sister, Zola Limes (Jerry) of Farina; eight grandchildren, Austin, Chase, Matthew, Michelle, Misty, Nicholas, Nikki, and Sherry; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Nellie Scoles; husband of 52 years, Kenneth Hawkey; daughter, Vickie Sue; brothers, Abe, Jesse, Merle, Len, and Harry Scoles; and sisters, Lucy Davis, Pauline Ingram, and Audrey Jean Mefford.
