Blake Nathaniel Perry Wilson, 25, of rural St. Elmo, died at 8:50 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 21 at First United Methodist Church, St. Elmo with Dan Laack officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in rural Moccasin. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20 at the church. Memorials may be made to the family. Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Blake Nathaniel Perry Wilson was born on Monday, Nov. 1, 1993 in Springfield to Jennifer L. Myers and Edward W. Wilson. He married Bridget Gottman on Sept. 21, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Altamont. He was in the class of 2012 in St. Elmo. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Elmo and employed with the Y-Yard Auto and Truck of Watson.
He is survived by his wife, Bridget Wilson of St. Elmo; children, Brookelynne Elayne, Braxton Elliott, Nathaniel David, and Brenner Edward Dean, all at home; sisters, Megan Taplin of Charleston and Audrey Burgess of Altamont; mother, Jennifer (Shane) Burgess of Altamont; father, Edward (Crystal) Wilson of St. Elmo; father, Shane (Lori) Taplin of Wright’s Corner; mother-in-law, Jodi (Thomas) Graumenz of St. Elmo; father-in-law, Chuck Gottman of St. Elmo; paternal grandmothers, Ruby Wilson of St. Elmo and Linda Brock of Effingham; paternal grandfather, James (Pam) Brock of Kansas City, Mo.; step-siblings, Nick (Sam) Wright of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Zach (Shelby) Wright of Altamont, Justin (Kelsey) Crum of St. Elmo, Candace Crum of St. Elmo, Courtney Heath of Tempe, Ariz., and Wyatt Heath of Wright’s Corner; sister-in-law, Dara Ledbetter of St. Elmo; brother-in-law, Lucas (Megan) Ledbetter of Brownstown; Godparents, J.J. and Cheryle Goldstein of Altamont; and 12 nieces and nephews, Abbi, Mario, Eli, Drake, Arabella, Ava, Aubree, Christian, Wyatt, Arianna, and Haegen, with one on the way.
Blake was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David and Virginia Myers, and paternal grandfather, Leland Wilson.
