The eighth graders at Brownstown Jr. High will be taking the next step on their journey toward adulthood.
During a ceremony last Thursday, The eighth graders were promoted as they move on to high school.
Principal Jeff Wooters welcomed the crowd gathered in the gym and spoke a few words of association for all the parents, teachers, and faculty that made the ceremony possible.
Jeb Smail, representing the local VFW, presented the Patriot’s Pen award. Maddi Cripe took home the first place award. Cortney Arnold won second and Gracie Norris won third.
Mr. Wooters then presented the President’s Academic Excellence Award, given to students who finish in the top percentile of students. This year’s winners were Annie Chandler, Maddi Cripe, Kyli Kitchen, Quinton Logan, and Dakota Orechovesky.
Wooters also presented the Daughters of the American Revolution Award to Annie Chandler.
Kyli Kitchen received the honor of being named the top A.R. Reader.
The junior high students that were on the honor roll and high honor roll were also honored.
The Brownstown High School class of 2022 consists of Cortney Arnold, Levi Barker, Kaleb Bolyard, Anna Carillo, Annie Chandler, Wyatt Chandler, Maddi Cripe, Jarin Evans, Debra Gerhardt, Kevin Hall, Kyli Kitchen, Quinton Logan, Lukas Miller, Gracie Norris, Dominic Norsic, Dakota Orechovesky, Dillan Powell, Nora Rees, Autumn Reynolds, Taylor Smith, Chance Snow, Tyler Snow, and Tyler Stonecipher.
