Carl A. Stortzum, 57, of Beecher City, died at 11:56 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 at his home.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Visitation was for two hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice.
Carl was born on Friday, Jan. 27, 1961 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Arno Herman John and Mary Evelyn Fitts Stortzum. He married Connie Sue Hills on Sept. 5, 1987 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, and she survives. Carl was employed as a machinist at SIM Products, Shumway, for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his son, Camren Stortzum of Beecher City; step son, Murdoch Mackenzie of Altamont; step daughter, Dawn Mackenzie of Cowden; brother, Jack (Emma) Stortzum of Kaiser, MO; sister, Lynda Stortzum of Effingham; mother-in-law, Dorothy Gabbard of St. Elmo and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, and his father-in-law, Charles W. Hills.
