Delbert E. Miller, 76, of Brownstown, died at 5 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12 at First Christian Church, Brownstown with Jim Dann officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 11 at the church and for one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Brownstown or the donor’s choice. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
Delbert was born on Wednesday, July 23, 1941 in Decatur, IL to Ted and Iva (Grandfield) Miller. He married Karen Smith Helm on Dec. 21, 1979 in an airplane flying over the family farm. He was a graduate of Brownstown Community High School, class of 1959. He was a retired farmer and airport operator. He was a flight instructor, pilot, airplane mechanic and crop duster. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Fayette County Hospital Board, Fayette County Soil and Water Board, and Sefton Township Trustee.
He is survived by his wife of over 37 years, Karen of Brownstown; son, Samuel Miller of Brownstown; daughters, Wanda (Roger) Powell, Yukon, OK and Carol (Brad) Goodart of Collinsville, OK; sister-in-law, Betty Miller of Brownstown; four grandchildren, Ryan Powell, Ashley Shaw, Joshua Guess, and Brody Miller.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jesse Miller.
