Martha Elizabeth Miller, 97, of St. Elmo passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon Nov. 30, 2017 at 2:05 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Christian burial rites with graveside funeral services were conducted Monday morning Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo, Illinois with the Rev. Daniel Laack officiating
Martha was born one of eight siblings into the Christian family of Henry and Elizabeth Egbert Kleinman. She began her long life on Feb. 22, 1920 at Evansville, Indiana.
Martha married James Robert Miller on Feb. 21, 1942 in Evansville. The family then moved to Central City, KY and later in 1962 moved to St. Elmo. Her husband Robert preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1995.
Martha spend her life as a house wife and with her husband raised a family of three sons.
She was long time member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Elmo where she was active in the Ladies Aid cooking and quilting.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of St. Elmo and or the choice of the donor.
Martha is survived by: sons: Stephen Henry (Bonnie) Miller of St. Elmo; Robert Ray Miller of Inman, SC; Ralph Eugene (Dale) Powell of Spring Valley, CA; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by: husband James Robert Miller; daughter-in-law Joyce Miller; four brothers; three sisters; one grandchild.
