James E. ‘Jim’ Moore, 71, of St. Elmo, died at 10:10 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Olen Evans officiating. Burial followed at Sidener Cemetery, rural St. Elmo with military rites by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95. Visitation was from noon until service time. Memorials may be made to Sidener Cemetery or Fayette County Hospice.
Jim was born on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1946 in Keyesport, IL to Darrell and Mary (Cook) Moore. He married Joyce Durbin on March 5, 1967 in St. Elmo. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during Vietnam. He was a retired Boilermaker with Local 363 and a member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95, Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Joyce; sons, Chris (Angela) Moore, St. Elmo and Ty (Dawn) Moore, St. Elmo; daughter, Andrea Mahaney, Mattoon; brother, Mickey (Fern) Moore, St. Elmo; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Forson.
