Lloyd Glenn Grotts, 80, of Saint Elmo, Illinois, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, in Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care, Vandalia.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, with Pastor Randy Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow at Mulberry Grove City Cemetery, Mulberry Grove, Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 prior to the service, at Miller funeral Home, Vandalia. He was born, May 5, 1937, in Mulberry Grove, the son of Elmer and Elva (Wehrle) Grotts. Lloyd was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union. He drove for Kreider Truck Service and finished his driving career with ABF Trucking. Prior to driving a truck, Lloyd worked for Pet Milk Inc. In his younger years, he loved playing sports with his kids and was a life long Cardinals fan. Lloyd was a kidney transplant recipient in 1999, receiving a kidney from his son, David.
He is survived by: Beloved Companion, Leona Delaney, Saint Elmo.
He is also survived by sons: Kenton Grotts, Greenville; David Grotts and Bridget, Pocahontas; and Thomas Grotts, Mulberry Grove; daughter: Rhonda Hayes and Mark, Greenville; sister: Patsy Tedrick and Special Friend, Harold Thull, Mulberry Grove; sister-in-law: Melba Grotts, Mulberry Grove; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Grotts.
