Cora Genevieve (Ward) Pruett, 93, of Brownstown, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 at her daughter’s home.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown with Jim Dann officiating. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Pruett was born on Friday, Aug. 1, 1924 in Brownstown, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Smith) Ward. She married Ivan E. Pruett on April 19, 1943 in Vandalia. He passed away on Nov. 6, 2005. She worked in Illiopolis at the powder plant making ammunition during WWII, while her husband served in the war in Germany. When he came home she devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
She is survived by: son, Galen (Glenna) Pruett, Vandalia; daughter, Sondra Thompson, Brownstown; grandchildren, Ivan (Christina) Pruett, Jr., Brownstown, Shelly (Kevin) White, Brownstown, Terry (Angie) Thompson, Vandalia, Carla (Charlie) Hassebrock, Edgewood, Derek (Tara) Pruett, Brownstown, Dustin (Lynze) Pruett, Brownstown; 13 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her: parents; husband; sons, Ivan Ray Pruett and Larry Joe Pruett; grandson, Chaney Pruett; three brothers and three sisters.
