Myron “Bob” Phillips, 85, of Altamont, formerly of Beecher City, died at 7:13 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Dennis Warner officiating. Burial followed at Beecher City Cemetery. Visitation was held for two hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center or the donor’s choice.
Bob was born on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1931 in rural Moccasin to Thomas L. and Alice Lucille (Doty) Phillips. He married Betty Little on July 3, 1950. He was retired from Crossroads Press, Effingham.
He is survived by his: wife of over 66 years, Betty Phillips of Altamont; son, Doug Phillips and his wife Jeanette of Altamont; daughter, Carol Steele and her husband Dennis of Beecher City; stepbrothers, Bill Lilly of Florida and Oren Lilly of Kentucky; sisters, Opal Baker of Effingham, Doris “Doy” Peters of Altamont, and Bonnie Kemme of Beecher City; four grandchildren, Daniel Steele, Chris Phillips, Ashley Phillips, and Caitlin Phillips; great-grandson, Brody Phillips.
Bob was preceded in death by his: parents; stepfather, Jeff Lilly; brother, Larry Phillips; a brother in infancy; and a stepsister.
