Doris Marie (Stuemke-Evans) White, 83, of Dieterich, formerly of Altamont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 5:30 a.m. at her home in rural Clay County near Dieterich where she made her residence for the past 13 years.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 17, at 4 p.m. in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Altamont with the Rev. Clayton Vail officiating.
Visitation for family and friends was conducted from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church prior to the funeral service.
Burial rites will be at the church cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Doris was born into the Christian family one of four siblings to Arthur and Cordelia Hollman-Opfer. She began her long life on Sept. 17, 1933 at the family farm in Lincoln, Mo. She was baptized in Lincoln and confirmed at Blue Point Lutheran Church in rural Altamont. After marrying Raymond, she was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in rural Altamont. Doris spent most of her time raising her family with the help of her husband and was employed for many years at the Carriage Inn and later McDonald’s in Altamont.
She married Raymond Carl Stuemke on Nov. 1, 1953 and he died on Dec. 8, 1987. She then married William Ford Evans on Aug. 17, 1991 and he died on Sept. 22, 1996. Then on May 1, 2004 she married Howard Dale White and he survives.
Memorials they may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Care Center, and/or the donor’s choice.
She is survived by her: husband, Howard Dale White of Dieterich; son, Dennis Ray (wife, Mary) Stuemke of Altamont; daughters, June Elaine (husband, Michael) Carey of Altamont, and Nancy Kay (husband, Mark) Lindsey of Beloit, Wisc.; grandchildren, Kristie Lynn (husband, Patrick) Waddell and Lisa Michele (husband, Justin) Roosa, both of Greenwood, Ind., Nicholas Aaron (wife, Jennifer) Lindsey of Stevens Point, Wisc., and Angela Renee (husband, John) Jennings of Plover, Wisc.; great-grandchildren, Justin Michael and Lindsay Marie Waddell, Chesney Lynn and Brantley Michael Roosa, Gabriella Mae and Bria Nicole Lindsey, and Malachi Orion and Milo Altair Jennings; brothers, Ed (wife, June) Opfer of Shobonier, and Jim (wife, Judy) Opfer of Palo Alto, Calif.; sister, Elaine Lange of Shobonier; two stepsons and three stepdaughters.
She was preceded in death by her: parents, Arthur and Cordelia Hollman-Opfer; husband, Raymond Carl Stuemke; husband, William Ford Evans; brother-in-law, Loren Lange.
