Wildcats impress at NTJHC Conference Meet

The Altamont Wildcats track team closed out their regular season last week when they hosted the National Trail Junior High Conference Meet. They had an impressive showing, placing fourth place or higher in team points for both the boys and girls at both the 7th and 8th grade levels. Nine schools competed: Altamont, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Windsor, Brownstown/St. Elmo, Stew-Stras, Sacred Heart, Sigel St. Michael, Neoga, and North Clay.

For the 7th grade boys, Altamont claimed first place with 111 points, easily besting second place Sigel St. Michael which scored 71 points and third place CHBC’s 59 points.

Altamont scored points in every category except the 4×400 meter relay. Results for Altamont were:

100 m dash – Tristan Rhodes placed third with a time of 13.38 and Bryce Suckow finished eighth with a time of 14.53; 200 m dash – Suckow finished third with a time of 29.07; 400 m dash – Logan Reardon finished first with a time of 1:01.92 and Jared Hammer finished fourth with a time of 1:07.7; 800 m run – Jack Scott finished third with a time of 2:42.37 and Brayden Grunloh finished ninth with a time of 3:03.48; 1600 m run – Grunloh finished sixth with a time of 6:20.11 and Colton Nelson finished ninth with a time of 6:30.77; 110 m hurdles – Rhodes finished first with a time of 18.01 and Max Runge took third with a time of 19.56; 4×100 relay – team of Runge, Scott, Josh Overton, and Hayden Siebert took fourth with a time of 59.57; 4×200 relay – team of Reardon, Suckow, Rhodes, and Hammer took second with a time of 1:56.7; 4×400 relay – team of Nelson, Mason Robinson, Grunloh, and Wyatt Phillips finished sixth with a time of 5:11.17; High Jump – Suckow took second place with a height cleared of 4’10” and Mason Winn took seventh with a height cleared of 4’6”; Pole Vault – Christopher Miller took first place with a height cleared of 7’6” and Robinson took third with a height cleared of 7’; Long Jump – Reardon took first with a distance of 15’3” and Runge took eighth with a distance of 13’3.5”; Shot Put – Reardon took second place with a distance of 34’9.5” and Eric Kollman took eighth with a distance of 28’4”; Discus Throw – Killman took third with a distance of 87’6” and Phillips took sixth with a distance of 80’6”.

For the 7th grade girls, Altamont claimed second place with 86 points. They trailed only Neoga’s 106.5 points but finished just ahead of third place Sigel St. Michael’s 81.5 points. Altamont’s results were:

100 m dash – Kalianna Becker finished sixth with a time of 15.65 and Adrien Fitzjarrald took seventh with a time of 15.72; 200 m dash – Fitzjarrald took fifth with a time of 32.95 and Ellie McManaway took seventh with a time of 34.2; 400 m dash – McManaway took third with a time of 1:12.65 and Paige Wendling took ninth with a time of 1:22.61; 800 m run – Laine Tedrick took second place with a time of 2:54.89 and Ana Fulk took sixth with a time of 3:03.71; 1600 m run – Tedrick took first with a time of 6:23.62; 100 m hurdles – Becker took second with a time of 20.28; 4×100 relay – team of Becker, Wendling, Fitzjarrald, and Remington Miller took third with a time of 1:01.45; 4×200 relay – team of Ramsey Miller, Madiso Splector, Alyssa Braun, and Ceci Devore took fourth with a time of 2:22.05; 4×400 relay – team of Miller, Fitzjarrald, Splector, and Braun finished fifth with a time of 5:37.97; High Jump – McManaway took second with a height cleared of 4’8” and Becker took third with a height cleared of 4’6”; Pole Vault – Julianna Berg finished first with a height cleared of 7’9” and Isabella Hosick finished second with a height cleared of 7’; Long Jump – Berg took third place with a distance of 13’11”; Shot Put – Wendling took seventh with a distance of 18’2” and Fulk finished 13th with a distance of 14’10.75”; Discus Throw – Adria Denton finished ninth with a distance of 40’1”.

For the eighth grade boys, Altamont claimed second place with 108 points, trailing Neoga’s 128 but ahead of third place Brownstown’s 82. Results for Altamont were:

100 m dash – Isaac Crow finished third with a time of 12.96 and Zac Jezewski took sixth with a time of 14.09; 200 m dash – Sam Mathesius took third with a time of 27.31 and Brayden Stuemke finished fifth with a time of 28.72; 400 m dash – Jordan Monk took second with a time of 1:02 and Crow took fourth with a time of 1:04.58; 800 m run – Corey Jackson took sixth with a time of 2:30.43 and Monk took eighth with a time of 2:40.75; 1600 m run – Jackson took third with a time of 5:31.6 and Derick Budde took fourth with a time of 5:46.24; 110 m hurdles – Mathesius took second with a time of 17.89 and Stuemke took sixth with a time of 19.23; 4×100 relay – team of Monk, Mathesius, Budde, and Jerod Ruffner took second with a time of 52.93; 4×200 realy – team of Stuemke, Tyler Stuckemeyer, Mason Robinson, and Jezewski took third with a time of 2:05.91; 4×400 relay – team of Monk, Jack Scott, Crow, and Ruffner took second with a time of 4:30.08; High Jump – Mathesius took fourth with a height cleared of 4’8”; Pole Vault – Stuemke took first with a height cleared of 10’ and Stuckemeyer finished third with a height cleared of 8’; Long Jump – Jezewski finished sixth with a distance of 14’4” and Jackson took seventh with a distance of 14’3.5”; Shot Put – Brennyn Abendroth took third with a distance of 38’1” and Ruffner took seventh with a distance of 32’11”; Discus Throw – Abendroth took second with a distance of 135’6” and Ruffner took fourth with a distance of 119’2”.

For the eighth grade girls, Altamont finished in fourth place. CHBC took first with 114 while Neoga had 95 and BSE took third with 58 points. Results for Altamont were:

100 m dash – Anna Sigg took fifth place with a time of 14.71 and Ceci Devore took 12th with a time of 16.01; 200 m dash – Sigg took fourth with a time of 31.44; 400 m dash – Madison Splector took ninth with a time of 1:30.85 and Bailey Harshman took tenth place with a time of 1:49.69; 800 m run – Ramsey Miller finished fifth with a time of 3:13.07 and Alyssa Braun took sixth with a time of 3:16.01; 1600 m run – Hannah Cripe took fifth with a time of 7:46.65; 100 m hurdles – Brooke Runge took second with a tiem of 17.88; 4×100 relay – team of Taylor Mette, Ellie McManaway, Runge, and Sigg took first place with a time of 55.97; 4×200 relay – team of Cripe, Ana Fulk, Jenna Smith, and Isabella Hosick took fourth with a time of 2:30.27; 4×400 relay – team of Julianna Berg, Abby Goeckner, Mette, and Runge took third with a time of 4:45.12; Pole Vault – Mette took fourth place with a height cleared of 7’6” and Goeckner took sixth with a height cleared of 7’6”; Long Jump – Runge finished fifth with a distance of 13’.25”; Shot Put – Sigg took eighth place with a distance of 22’3”; Discus Throw – Goeckner took ninth with a distance of 36’8”.
