The Lady Indians traveled to Buchanan Park, Kentucky for a softball tournament again this year with their first game taking place on Friday night. They dropped their first game to Barren County 11-3.
Jade Shryock took the loss on the mound for Altamont, allowing 15 hits and three walks over six innings. She struck out one and allowed ten earned runs.
At the plate, Katie Grimsley had two hits and a run while Elizabeth Biggs cracked an RBI triple. Audrey Winters also had a base hit and scored a run.
In their second game of the trip, Altamont faced Oldham County later that evening. In a game that got out of hand early on, Altamont fell 17-6.
On Saturday, the Indians dropped both of their games, but they were able to keep the scores a little closer.
First up, they faced Taylor County. Both teams managed just two hits each, but Taylor County took advantage of a pair of Altamont errors as well as a multitude of walks issued to put up five runs while shutting out the Indians 5-0.
Tinley Mette and Shelbi stone had the lone base hits for Altamont. Winters took the loss on the mound, allowing two hits and seven walks in three and two-thirds innings of work. She struck out four.
In the second game of the day, Altamont lost to Warren East 4-1.
Altamont went up early, scoring their run in the top of the second inning, but allowed the opposition to score twice in both the third and fourth innings.
Biggs took the loss for the Indians, throwing four innings and allowing five hits and four walks. She struck out five while giving up four runs, only two of which were earned.
At the plate, Brooke burns had a triple and scored a run. Arriana Kopplin had the other hit for Altamont.
