The Fayette County Fair Board met in regular session on Monday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m.
The Board approved the minutes from May, and the Treasurer’s report.
After some discussion, the Board approved a motion to move all funds to one financial institution. The Board currently uses three, and decided that it would make more sense for them to just use the one institution which houses their operating loan.
In maintenance news, a small water leak in the wall of the women’s restroom has been found, and is to be repaired as soon as possible. Also, Charlie Depew brought to the board’s attention, that the mowing company has not been mowing around the putt-putt golf course area as agreed. Depew has been mowing the area, and this brought discussion about what to do with the area. Some suggested fixing up the course, and others thought removing the course and using the area for more parking would be better. No decision was reached.
Steve Lach mentioned speaking with Depew about doing some work to the main road, so that it would drain better, and discussion began about all roads throughout the fair grounds. The board approved the cost of road patch, not to exceed $1,000.
Lach also mentioned that the Brownstown Alumni had approached him about raffling a jukebox during fair week, but was informed that it was against the rules and regulations to have a raffle like that.
In other news, the board decided that they still need workers for fair week. They agreed help was needed for the front gate, grand stands, and various other places. Kieth Kramer mentioned that board members and family could volunteer, and it was agreed that would cover some of the needed help.
The board approved payment of workers for fair week, in the amount of minimum wage for general workers, and $1 more for workers handling money.
Also approved, was the purchase of rain insurance for fair week, and a special board meeting to be held on June 28 at 7:30 p.m. to finalize all decisions left open before the fair.
